About
This initiative, to be launched in 2026 at IEAC-UNIFESP, aims to promote discussions and the production of content on the current challenges in scientific research that are common across all fields of knowledge, as well as potential solutions for generating high-quality scientific knowledge. Examples of these challenges, which will be the focus of this group, include issues such as the replicability crisis, the reduction of funding allocated to research, the lack of representativeness of researchers and samples from outside the Global North, the growing distance between science and society, and the increasing pressure placed on researchers to publish, which has led to questionable scientific practices.
Planning
A dedicated website, linked to IEAC-UNIFESP, to host and centralize the materials produced by the group (to be publicly announced).
A monthly newsletter covering news related to cross-cutting challenges in science.
A compilation of selected references that critically address the group’s discussion topics, serving as a resource for those interested.
An interinstitutional online graduate-level course to discuss current challenges and crises in science and strategies to mitigate them.
The creation of videos and podcasts featuring experts discussing contemporary challenges in science.
